Richardson and Ward began with a simple irritation: homes full of things that never quite earn their keep. Pieces bought quickly, used twice, forgotten by spring.
We wanted the opposite. A small, carefully chosen range of quiet, well-judged pieces, the sort you buy once and reach for without thinking, year after year. Fewer things. Better things. Nothing that does not deserve its place.
First principle

Everything starts with material and make. We judge each piece in the hand, by its weight, its finish and the honesty of its construction, rather than by trend or by how it looks in a photograph.
Well-made things behave differently. They hold their shape, soften where they should, and improve the longer you live with them. If a piece does not pass, it does not appear here.

Choosing well is only half of it. The rest is how you are treated once you have ordered, and we hold ourselves to plain, old-fashioned standards there too.
Every order is tracked and dispatched within 1 to 2 business days. You have a full 60 days from delivery to be certain, and if anything arrives less than right, a photo is all we need to put it straight. When you write to us, a real person replies within 1 business day.
Good things, kept for years, ask very little of you. Only that you choose them carefully the first time.
